Playa Hermosa School Back Pack Program 2016
The Playa Hermosa School Back Pack Program 2016 was a rousing success but the good things happening at the School do not stop there.
Stepping onto the grounds of the Playa Hermosa School yesterday you notice the improvements right away. Four years ago there was basically one classroom and a basic lunch room. There are now 44 students and 3 more are signing up according to the School Principal.
Now they have multiple classrooms, an official lunch room and sports court and a new room for the kindergarten students. At this moment all the walkways between the classrooms are being covered so that students will be covered from both sun and rain while they go between classes or just socialize and be kids. Suffice it to say the school is a place the kids will be happy to come and will be comfortable to study in.
The community of Playa Hermosa has played the major role in this transformation spearheaded by the Playa Hermosa Resident’s Association Education Committee currently headed by Carrie Enfield and long time community volunteer and fundraiser Gary Lundquist.
Today was the presentation ceremony of the Playa Hermosa School Back Pack Program 2016. Started years ago by Gary Lindquist and other volunteers as a way to help the poorest kids to have the school supplies and uniforms needed for the school year. So now every year the Playa Hermosa Residents Association Education Committee accepts donations to purchase each kid in the school a brand new Back Pack filled everything they need to start the new school year.
RE/MAX has been involved since the beginning with the School Back Pack program giving generously and asking our clients to give as well. Check out the video below to see the results of everyone’s hard work and generous support.
Thank you everyone who contributed. The kids really appreciate it!
